I served on board the Ranger for 4 1/2 years in ship's company. I was an ET1 and the LPO of the Communications shop, we were responsible for all outside communications with the ship. I was in Radio most of the time, but we also maintained the ship's entertainment system and the television station. I was on 2 WestPacs and 2 trips to Korea. I was on-board for the famous 121 days in the Indian Ocean...what a drag! Overall, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times... Glad you have this site, the memories are good.

I haven't the words to truly describe how I feel about the ship, my shipmates, and the memories. "If I only had it to do all over again. There is certainly a lot I would do over." But of all the time I spent in the Navy, my most memorable time was spent aboard the finest ship in the seventh fleet (then)and probably the finest ship in the entire United States Navy. That was, of course, The USS Ranger, CVA-61, Top Gun, Bar None. It was a privilege to have served aboard her and along side the best trained carrier crew in the US Navy. Of all the ships that have been turned into museums, She deserved to be preserved and honored for the rich history of sucessful missions alone. God bless her!

I enjoyed the pictures of the USS Ranger. My son,former Marine, saw a long haul trucker with the UUS Ranger painted on his truck and told us about it. I think it should be preserved as part of our Naval history and put on display like the USS Missouri. My grandson is serving aboard the USS Harry S. Truman now. Keep up the good work and hope that the USS Ranger gets to be put on display.
